RII’s Laboratory of Influenza Vaccines has produced an influenza A(H3N2) vaccine strain for seasonal vaccine manufacturing. RA 33 strain is based on A/Texas/50/2012 (H3N2) virus, recommended for vaccine composition by the WHO. RA 33 possesses high production yield, complies with all vaccine requirements and is ready for manufacturing. Currently, there are no comparable strains available in Russia.
Research has been going on to acquire influenza B vaccine strains based on the WHO–recommended B/Massachusetts/2/2012 strain and a similar B/Saint–Petersburg/91/2013, isolated from a patient in Russia and analyzed at the RII.
